my name is Jesper Forslund and I will explain what web2aid is all about.
Web2Aid is a concept that takes products and services on the web and transforms them into money that goes to aid organizations around the world. The concept is built on projects that are:
- One time development investment
- Effortless and cheap to maintain and host
- Simple but valuable for the users
So entrepreneurs and companies behind these kinds of projects have two alternatives:
- Get some income for the project or
- Make it a Web2Aid project and give all the income to aid organisations
Sure, the first alternative is probably a welcome income but what happens if they donate it? What if the users know that the income from advertisement and donations and premium features is money that goes directly to something good? Well, they probably will be more willing to use and support that cause. The people behind the project will get great marketing and can get the satisfaction that simply by picking the high road - they make a contribution to the world.
Web2Aid is an organisation that encourage the second alternative and acts as a bridge between these projects and other aid organisations. We simply transform virtual value to the reality where it can help people in need of our support.
